THE POWER OF STORYTELLING
So, What Does Storytelling And An Online Business Have In Common?
I will explain that in a minute, but first let’s find out how powerful storytelling is.
We should all develop a story telling skill because social media is all about story. It's all about story telling either photo story, video story, it's the art of story. You can have two people tell the same story and one person can make that story come to life and another person can make it put you to sleep.
So, what's the difference between telling a 30 seconds’ story to a 7 minutes’ story?
Your ability to tell the story.
If you're really good about telling a story then by all means, put out your 7 minutes’ story.
Just like what Gary Vaynerchuk said when asked,
"Do you think it's possible to Snap too much?"
Gary Vaynerchuk said:
"If it's good, NO. If it's not, YES. People will watch a four-hour movie if it's great."
It all comes down to content, it's not how long the story is, it's the ability to communicate it in an engaging way. If you got someone's attention and you've got their interest, the way that you then essentially create a hypnotic environment, is getting to the details.
So, practice, practice, practice your story telling.
Stories are about collaboration and connection. They transcend generations, they engage us through emotions, and they connect us to others. Though stories we share passions, sadness, hardships, and joys. We share meaning and purpose.
Stories are the common ground that allows people to communicate, overcoming our defenses and our differences. Stories allow us to understand ourselves better and to find our commonality with others. Stories are how we think. They are how we make meaning of life. Call them designs, scripts, concerning minds, mental models, metaphors, or narratives.
Stories are how we explain how things work, how we make decisions, how we justify our decisions, how we persuade others, how we understand our place in the world, create our identities, and define and teach social values.
Stories are how we are wired. Stores take place in the imagination. To the human brain, imagined experiences are processed the same as real experiences. Stories create genuine emotions, presence (the sense of being somewhere), and behavioral responses.
So, what does storytelling and your online business have in common?
This is the simplest but insanely effective tool that makes selling your products, promotions, and services easier than ever. Talking about a simple yet persuasive story. Chances are, if you aren’t using them in your business, one of your competitors is.
We humans have a special ability to store and recall stories. Therefore, evolutionary stories have been our primary way of collecting and communicating information. This information could be about which online business is trending, how you can tell if it’s a scam, or where is the best source for starting an online business.
Here’s few tips if you want to give it a try.
Your story must be true. (unless you are writing an example)
Include pictures as often as possible if you have them.
If you can, use video because it makes it much more believable.
Make sure the unique insight is something that your audience has experienced and sees the benefit to solving their problems.
This type of story is perfect for including on your about page website and in your sales page material.
Never copy anyone else’s story.
